Suite spectra

Dave Woodward
Product Specialist

Most analytical chemistry labs use a variety of spectroscopic and chromatographic instruments, often from different manufacturers, with a whole range of different, proprietary file formats. Handling all this data can be a nightmare – unless you use new GRAMS 8.

Providing an integrated environment in which to capture, store, process and report data derived from multiple analytical instruments is a challenging task – but one that the GRAMS suite of software is more than equal to.

GRAMS can read spectroscopic and chromatographic data from just about every significant instrument manufacturer, applying a common file format that makes it much easier to compare, analyse and store your results.

All the processing is done off-line, letting your expensive instruments get on with the job they’re there for, rather than taking up valuable time processing data. GRAMS’s analytical capabilities range from simple peak fitting to complex, multivariate chemometrics.

The latest version, GRAMS 8, incorporates an instrument data viewer (Envision) that can host plug-in processing and reporting modules. That means you can work with ‘live’ spectral data on your desktop rather than relying on static snapshots or purchasing multiple workstation licences from several vendors – and link the data to electronic lab notebooks, LIMS and other corporate systems.

GRAMS 8 also includes Spectral DB, a unique desktop data management tool for organising spectra and chromatograms into a database. Setting up a centralised, shared spectral database provides research groups with an efficient means of accessing and manipulating data, standardising their data analysis environment and providing a common platform for developing spectral processing algorithms and chemometric models. There’s a broad range of options also available for GRAMS 8 – why not get hold of a copy of the GRAMS Spectroscopy Suite product guide for the full story?
